Discussion Questions
1. In what ways have you felt pressure to compromise your integrity in your work situation?
2. Read Daniel 6:1-28. What was Daniel’s situation in the kingdom (Babylon)? What seemed to inspire his colleagues’ plot? Compare Daniel’s situation with Jennifer’s (p.9).
3. How did Daniel respond to the king’s edict? What do you think was going through his mind as he followed through on his response? How did his behavior demonstrate integrity?
4. How could Jennifer have responded with integrity to her coworkers’ behavior?
5. How did the king respond to the charges against Daniel? In what ways did he demonstrate integrity? Compare the king’s ethical framework to Daniel’s.
6. Describe a situation in which your values and/or ethical system differed from those around you. How did you resolve it? What were the consequences?
7. What was the outcome in Daniel’s story (6:19-28)—for Daniel? for the king? for God?
8. Think of a situation where you, or someone you know, took a difficult position that required integrity. What was the outcome for the person who took the stand? for others in the situation? for God?
9. In your present work situation, what would it take for you to “walk your talk”?
