Favor - December 9, 2010

"May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands" (Psalm 90:17 NIV).

As you are wrapping up this semester, I pray that God's favor would rest upon you. May He give you the clarity and understanding that you need for tests, papers, etc. May He establish you and enable you to finish strong. Enjoy your time off and come back refreshed and ready to go! God bless you real good!

Honorable - November 23, 2010

"We are careful to be honorable before the Lord, but we also want everyone else to see that we are honorable" (2 Corinthians 8:21 NLT).

"Honorable" is an important word, meaning that it honors the Lord when your "yes" is "yes" and your "no" is "no." Walking as a person of integrity spills over into every area of your life. Everyone benefits from your honesty and integrity. While in nursing school, learn the value of walking honorably. Then, when you are a nurse, your integrity will follow you into your nursing practice. People will soon discover they can trust you. Your patients will sense that they have an honorable nurse standing in front of them, offering them care. Take the road less traveled and walk honorably before the Lord. You will be glad that you did. God bless you!

Strength in Weakness - October 21, 2010

Paul knew oh so well about strength in weakness. He tells us in 2 Corinthians 12:9, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." It doesn't take a change of circumstances to obtain victory; you can know victory in prayer. Paul prayed until he heard from God. Through His grace, God will always give you what you need in nursing school as you trust Him and walk with Him. Grace abounds with those who know the strength of weakness. So, bring every care to Him, pray to Him and trust that He will give you all the wisdom, grace and guidance that you need. God bless you!

His Strength is Perfect - September 30, 2010

5Blessed are those whose strength is in you. 7They go from strength to strength. (Psalm 84: 5,7 NIV)

By this time in the semester, you may need a little extra strength. You are probably reminded that your strength doesn't always hold up. I know someone who's strength always does, and He is willing to share it with you. Once we place our strength in God's strength, we can go from strength to strength. Hallelujah! I pray you will know His strength today, right where you need it most! God bless you!

Get Wisdom - September 23, 2010

12Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. (Psalm 90:12 NIV)

If you need anything while in nursing school, you need wisdom.  Not just any ol' advice, but God's wisdom.  With God's wisdom, He gives the capacity to follow it through. What wisdom do you need from God today? Be honest, open and specific with Him, then listen. Try meditating on Psalm 90:9-12 and see what He has to say! God bless you!

Please Don't Forget - September 9, 2010

24Your testimonies also are my delight; They are my counselors. 16I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word. (Psalm 119:24,16 NASB)

Believe me when I say the temptation was strong to kick God to the curb when I was in nursing school.  My relationship with Him became that of arrow prayers (prayers when I needed something). This was one of the worst things that I could have done. I learned the hard way that I needed Him right smack in the middle of nursing school and my life. Carve out time alone with God and His word even if it's sometimes only 10 minutes a day. You will be glad that you did. You can start by meditating on the verses above. What is He saying to you through them?  His word will give you guidance and help sustain you. God bless you!

A Sure Foundation - August 27, 2010

In that day he will be your sure foundation, providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom and knowledge. The fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure. (Isa. 33:6 NLT)

He will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom and knowledge... (Isa. 33:6 NRSV)

A sure foundation yields benefits while in nursing school. Start out strong in your classes. Lay a firm foundation of adequate rest, studying, eating healthy, exercise and praying. I think this combination will strengthen your foundation and foster success in nursing school. God bless you!
