After Fran graduated from Capital University with a BSN degree she worked for several years on medical/surgical units. When her children were born, Fran took a few years away from active nursing practice but then went back two afternoons a week on a surgical unit at a local hospital. When her youngest child was in school all day, she started teaching nursing at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. During the six years at Aultman teaching basic and psych nursing, she also worked toward her MSN at Kent State University. After graduation, she took a teaching position at KSU where she stayed for three years. Then God opened a door for a position at Malone College in Canton, OH at the same time her family was moving back to Canton. In each of these teaching positions Fran had the opportunity to teach classes on spiritual care.
A sense of restlessness that God was guiding her in new directions led Fran to resign from teaching after 20 years. In 2000, after months of prayer and seeking the Lord’s leading she applied and was appointed to a staff position with Nurses Christian Fellowship. It has been exciting for Fran to see that God is using the skills developed in teaching in NCF ministry.
