Professional Experience

• Serve as the co-leader for the "Missions through the Lens of HIV/AIDS" residential track at Urbana 06 Urbana 06 Student Missions Convention
• Missions Editor for the Journal of Christian Nursing
• Encourage and support nurses and nursing students in health ministries among the poor and underserved.
• Serve as coordinator for the regional councils in the Southeast and in Indiana/Illinois/Wisconsin.
• Supervise field staff in IL and GA
• Network and partner with Christian organizations concerned about healthcare for the poor and underserved.

• Assist Affiliate offices in the development of health programs
• Liaise with the National Black Evangelical Association to form the coalition ICCARE to address HIV/AIDS in the Black World.

• Serve as a consultant to individuals and organizations interested in providing health care to the poor or in utilizing a community health development model. Work with Cary Christian Center to develop a community-based health care ministry. Organized and facilitated three continuing education workshops "Training Lay Health Personnel: An Innovative Approach to Community Health". Publish quarterly newsletter, Door to Door, for persons interested in community health. Supervised and supported eleven lay health programs in the United States.

• Served as a health consultant to the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau to develop the Primary Health Care Department. Developed guidelines for clinic registration that promoted quality health care services. Worked with the Uganda Community Based Health Care Association to develop curriculum for Community Health Workers, the Trainers of Community Health Workers, and the Facilitators of the Trainers of Community Health Workers. Was a member of the Patient Care and Ethics Subcommittee for the Uganda National Control Program for AIDS. Served as an advisor to the Uganda Ministry of Health to develop a comprehensive nursing curriculum and a Baccalaureate Nursing Program at Makerere University.
• Served as a project director to develop a community-based health care program for the Madi/West Diocese of the Church of Uganda. Trained Community Health Workers and the Trainers of Community Health Workers.

• Participated in the development of the Concordia College-West Suburban College of Nursing baccalaureate nursing program. Assisted in the research and writing of the Feasibility Study and Site Visit Report for the Illinois Department of Registration and Education. Served on the Steering Committee responsible for writing the Self-Study for Candidacy for Accreditation by the North Central Association of the Colleges and Schools. Served on the committees responsible for developing and writing the mission, philosophy, objectives, conceptual framework, and the curriculum of the West Suburban College of Nursing. Taught first level nursing courses.

• Provided laboratory instruction for Wheaton College courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, and Chemistry. Responsible for a teaching a nutrition course. Developed content and provided instruction in first and second level nursing courses. Clinically supervised three levels of nursing students in medical-surgical areas.
