In this Issue: Urbana 09 Missions Conference This December, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (of which NCF is a ministry) will be having its 22nd missions conference December 27-31, 2009 in St. Louis. This is a "must-go" opportunity for nursing students! Why? Watch the video and find out!
What are you doing next summer?
If so, come and join us on the NCF Uganda Global Project next summer. We will work with Ugandan college students in their outreach to children, visit AIDS prevention ministries and support groups, meet Ugandan nursing students and learn from their experiences, and visit hospitals in Mulago and Kagando. We'll explore God's call on our lives as nurses and see first-hand what cross-cultural and international nursing looks like! For more information...
Many students are communicating with tweets or texts - short snippets of life. However, sometimes we need to come together, connecting face to face and forming relationships to combat the pressures of life and nursing school. A witnessing community that reflects God's goodness has value on your campus. It is a way for students (and nurses) to cope – not gathering as a forum to complain but connecting to support, problem-solve and encourage each other. Scripture promotes these ideas. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." Hebrews 10:24-25 states, "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Find out if there is a Nurses Christian Fellowship "group in your area". If there isn't a group at your school, pray about starting one. All it takes is 2 or 3 students to start. Interested? Contact Email Bonnie for more information.
As a nursing student, become an NCF member and receive a huge discount in NCF membership fees. For the student rate of only $35.00, you can take advantage of all the NCF member benefits, including an annual subscription to the Journal of Christian Nursing. Now there is another option. For $25.00, full-time nursing students can choose an "Online-only" NCF membership. No print version of JCN will be mailed; instead it is available to read online. Both options allow for online access to previous issues. These articles can help students with research papers and classroom material by providing a Christian perspective on healthcare and philosophy of nursing. Learn more about NCF student memberships.
